The Human Resources Generalist will work collaboratively with Greenwood’s administration in the effective implementation and management of human resources functions and best practices.

Reports to: Principal

Role: Permanent Part-Time (60%)

The Position

The Human Resources Generalist will take an active role in day-to-day human resources matters while actively participating in the development and implementation of human resources goals and operating plans. The incumbent will also work with the Principal to design, establish, and maintain an effective organizational structure and staffing complement that supports the requirements of the school.

Working with the school’s administration, the Human Resources Generalist will facilitate functions including:

  • recruitment and onboarding;
  • contracts and remuneration;
  • staff retention and recognition;
  • performance management;
  • human resources policy development and documentation;
  • human resources data management and reporting;
  • employee well-being;
  • internal communications; and
  • support workplace training and development

The Human Resources Generalist will provide direction and guidance on employee relations issues such as professional conduct, compliance and workplace safety.

The Human Resources Generalist will play an integral role in championing initiatives that support Greenwood’s talent strategy and foster a collaborative, engaged and high-performing culture. The incumbent will provide management and administrative support in the delivery of various  human resources projects and initiatives; this position will play a key role in designing, documenting, communicating and implementing processes, procedures, and programs to support Greenwood’s human resources needs and strategic initiatives. In addition, the Human Resources Generalist will regularly analyze the effectiveness of human resources policies on the school’s operations and make recommendations accordingly.

The Human Resources Generalist will stay informed of competitive management practices and new developments, ensuring that Greenwood’s human resources policies and programs effectively attract and retain highly diverse employees while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Qualifications and Personal Characteristics

  • Postsecondary degree and/or certificate in Human Resources Management
  • 5+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience across multiple human resources disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including group facilitation capability
  • Strong technical knowledge of Talent Strategy and human resources practices and proven commitment to staying current with legislation changes and best practices
  • Commitment to employee development
  • Sound judgement
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills
  • Tact and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters
