Join the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Medical Centre to work within the Student Wellbeing team to help manage the mental health care of our diverse university student population. Work in collaboration with the support of family physicians, fellow psychiatrists and counsellors. Remuneration is fee-for-service with no overhead cost and possible stipend to be discussed. These positions are available immediately, (part-time or full-time), offers a flexible work schedule and strong administrative support.

Reporting to the Director, Student Integrated Health and Wellbeing and under the general direction of the Physician Lead, as a member of the TMU Student Wellbeing Team, you will:

● Provide psychiatric care to TMU students, staff and faculty, including: assessment and triage, diagnosing and treating psychiatric conditions, ordering lab tests as appropriate, and making referrals to other providers if needed.
● Provide psychiatric assessments and follow-up for students in a collaborative framework with family
physicians.
● Provide written consult notes for each initial consultation and keep thorough notes for follow up visits /
Prepare letters on behalf of TMU students to faculty regarding accommodation on compassionate /medical grounds
● Consult with allied health professionals when required (i.e. counsellors, academic accommodation
advisors).

Qualifications
● In good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons and have valid CMPA coverage.
● Experience in a Community Mental Health and/or Outpatient Mental Health providing general psychiatric care including pharmacotherapy and short term psychotherapy for a broad range of psychiatric/mental health conditions.
● An interest and/or experience in working with transitional age youth and/or previous experience working in a post secondary education setting is an asset.
● An interest in working with Black, Indigenous, and Racialized individuals living with mental health issues is an asset.

The Team
The Medical Centre team consists of family physicians, psychiatrists and medical trainees. The Family Physicians provide evidence based medical care for common physical and mental health conditions and work closely with Psychiatrists to manage patients with complex mental health needs. The Administrative Staff provide high qualithealthcare administrative services to the University community and help patients navigate the healthcare system. The medical team hopes to educate, guide and empower patients to make the best health decisions for themselves.

The Medical Centre serves a diverse university student population, typically between the ages of 18-30, with abroad range of mental health conditions including anxiety and mood disorders, substance abuse, trauma, ADHD, eating disorders as well as psychosis and personality disorders.
