Meet the leadership team behind BlackHRPC
Our vision is that emerging and experienced Black HR Professionals across Canada will have access to professional success, networks and development to prosper in the field.
Tanya Sinclair is an award-winning HRtist providing strategic leadership, advocacy, policy development and diversity guidance to corporations and the community. Tanya holds a Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Royal Roads University and holds the Certified Human Resources Executive CHRE designation along with the Distinguished HR Professional DHRP. Tanya founded BlackHRPC in 2020 through her desire to directly discover, connect and empower all Black HR professionals in Canada. Tanya’s leadership philosophy is lead, learn, laugh.
For the last ten years Dean has been focused on talent management and creating frameworks of equity for organizations. Through his consultancy, Strasity, he helps organizations design a strategic framework focused on Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity (DIBE). Dean is also a Professor of Diversity Management at George Brown College, and is a global conference speaker, delivering talks and workshops to both students and industry professionals. His passions for talent and DIBE have led him to become a vocal advocate for creating equitable workplaces. Dean possesses a Masters in Human Resources Management from York University and has completed a Certificate program in Leadership and Inclusion from Centennial College.
Surranna Sandy is an award-winning nonprofit executive who is currently the CEO of Skills for Change, a multiservice charitable agency serving 16,000+ Immigrants and Refugees annually. Surranna is a Master of Liberals in Global Development Practice Student at Harvard University. She has a Master of Arts in Leadership and Management, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources Management, an Hons Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Management, a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, a Diploma in HR Management, a Certificate in Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management; and a Certificate In Human Resources Management. She sits on the Board of the International Women’s Forum-Canada (IWFC); she Chairs the Communications Committee for IWFC Toronto Chapter. She serves as Board Chair for the Black Human Resources Professionals of Canada.
Amuna Baraka-Clarke is passionate about access. Her career has been spent in the not-for-profit sector in organizations that focus on knocking down barriers for equity-deserving communities. Amuna is an active community volunteer who holds the designation of Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) and has a Master’s Degree of Public Policy, Administration and Law.
Diedra Dick is the Accountant at the Creative Destruction Lab. She started her career at PwC in audit and assurance and later a senior accounting role at a small accounting firm. In her previous role, she has experience in planning, leading and reviewing financial statement assurance engagements in the not-for-profit, private and financial industries. Diedra is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of Toronto.
