Become a Volunteer

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and fields who support our efforts to advance careers, break barriers, and cultivate networks for black community members in HR.

BlackHRPC is a nonprofit network that aims to advance and represent black HR professionals across Canada, whether in the workplace, as students, on executive teams, as entrepreneurs, or on boards. Through member collaboration, our organization uses personal experience and support to confront anti-black racism. BlackHRPC provides networking events, professional development, resource sharing, expert consulting referrals, career counseling, career opportunities, volunteer opportunities, mental health support, and mentorship for black HR professionals. We aim to disrupt the industry, workplace, and leadership status quo!

Volunteer Committees & Roles

Volunteers will support event planning, mentorship, sponsorship, and ad-hoc community partner activities. Meetings are monthly at 12pm EST. Spots are limited to engaged volunteers. Applicants will be contacted only when a spot is available.

Using a lens of member collaboration, lived experience and support to confront anti-Black racism, BlackHRPC provides networking events, professional development, resource sharing, expert & consulting referrals, career counseling, career opportunities, volunteer opportunities, mental health support, and mentorship for Black HR Professionals.

Establish plan for sponsorship for conferences and events
Identify and approach sponsors
Craft sponsorship package and emails
Create sponsorship list

Events Committee

Plan logistics for 3-4 in-person and virtual events (including 1 signature in-person conference with streaming for 100+ attendees)

Volunteer Committee Member General Activities

Volunteer Committee Member General Activities

In their assigned areas, committee members will conduct the following services for BlackHRPC in collaboration with other volunteers:
  • Advise, review, and provide feedback on current and future activities
  • Participate through monthly meetings in the development and implementation of appropriate plans and projects for the target community
  • Provide input and action on approved ideas to help the organization and assigned service area for the Black community with a focus on HR
  • Identify and develop connection and engagement opportunities for BlackHRPC to enable the organization’s journey to accelerate careers, break barriers, and cultivate networks
  • Develop procedures and documentation in each committee to ensure the ongoing capture, retention and maintenance of organizational transfer of knowledge
  • Share a summary of recommendations and implement actions in line with a strategy that is culturally informed. Keep BlackHRPC informed with updates at info@blackhrpc.org
